Recognition of yarn appearance construction
With the realization of knitting fashion, the yarn becomes rich and the design coefficient of the yarn is increasing. There are hundreds of yarn type. How can we identify yarn by appearance when we are working in the sweater manufacturer industry? Today share with you the appearance characteristics of common yarns.
Staple yarn: It’s too many and different lengths. It feels soft and fluffy. The fiber has a certain oblique angle with the yarn shaft and thickness is different.
Single yarn: It twisted from spun by yarn craftsmanship. It can get spun directly after untwisting decomposition.
Plied yarn: It plying by two or more single yarns. It is less and uniformity. The final twist is single yarn.
Slub yarn: Has different length, different thickness and regularity.
Deformed yarn: filament is changed the construction of yarn after varieties of deformation processing. Some is fluffy and soft. Some has a good flexibility. Different appearance because of different deformation processing.
High-elastic yarn: Large flexibility and good elasticity. Among them single yarn present spiral curl with different diameter. It has braids and loops structure. Soft and fluffy hand feel.
Low-elastic yarn: the flexibility and elasticity are lower than high-elastic yarn. Spiral curl’s diameter is less and the distance is large. There is no obvious braid and loops structure.
Air textured yarn: It has loops and arcs on the surface, and the single yarns intertwined with each other are better. Less flexibility and staple yarn style, and have fluffy.
Core yarn: Usually is filament, wrapped is staple fiber. For example, cotton covering yarn’s core is spandex, the wrapped fiber is cotton which elasticity is good. Polyester\cotton covering yarn’s core is polyester filament, the wrapped fiber is cotton. Also has filament coated filament, such as polyamide/spandex cored yarn, silk/spandex cored yarn, etc.
Fancy yarn: It’s combine with core yarn, decorative yarn and strand. Decorative yarn fixed on core yarn present various forms, and has varieties of fancy effect, such as tubercle, loops, Hairy, ottoman, spiral and etc.
Staple filament composite: Final twist with staple yarn (such as wool yarn, hemp yarn, etc) and filament (such as Viscose filament, polyester filament, etc). Surface yarn has the composite characteristics of the two. It can be separated into staple yarn and filament after untwisting.
New staple yarn: Compared with traditional ring spinning. Knitting it by new spinning methods (such as rotor spinning, air jet spinning, parallel spinning, sirospun and etc).Its characteristics are high output, large coiling capacity and short process flow. New staple yarn’s construction is different from ring spun yarn. They have their own yarn construction characteristics with different spinning methods.
Rotor yarn:(Comparison with traditional ring spinning yarn) Its surface has too many wrapped fibers and twists. Uneven radial distribution namely the twist has a layered construction. Hand feel is hard. The evenness of sliver (the fineness of short segments is uneven) is good, less hairiness and impurities, fluffy.
Vortex yarn: The structure of vortex yarn is similar to rotor yarn. Twist angle is difference inner and outer fibers of yarn. Covering construction and fluffy. However, the short fragment unevenness is high. Thick details and many neps.
Jet yarn: Combine with untwisted or less twisted core yarn and wrapped fiber. Compared with traditional ring spinning yarn, jet yarn is less crude details and good sliver. Hairiness which more than 3mm is less. Unidirectional distribution and the structure is fluffy. Compared with special yarn, its diameter is large and less twist and low strength.
Network yarn: Has network junction and the fibers are intertwined and the structure is compact. It is basically distributed in parallel and fluffy where don’t have network junction.
Composite textured yarn: Appearance characteristics formed by composite deformation process. We can get two kinds of before composite deformation yarn after decompose.
Low elastic network yarn: both network junction and low elastic yarn characteristics.
Silk: Shrinkage fiber, high shrinkage fiber is loose outside the yarn.
Blended silk: Combine with silk and other fibers in silk production process.
Composite embracing yarn: Silk and chemical filament are parallel arrangement. Small expansion and good gloss.
Composite cross filament: Silk and chemical fiber filament or staple yarn are intertwined together through air nozzle. So their adhesion are good.
Composite winding yarn: Silk and chemical fiber filament wrapped around the chemical fiber filament in a ring shape by high speed eddy current. Has good fluffy.
Composite yarn: It is made of staple fiber or staple yarn and filament by core wrapping, coating or twisting. It composites with staple yarn and filament. It has the combination of staple yarn and filament.
We can Preliminary judgment what kind of yarn is it when we encounter various yarns. We will elaborate later that different yarns reflect different textures and garment effects.
